“Before getting to work with Nychel I was still learning to balance my time for my family and having time for my studies. Stress regarding a Christmas family get together was pulling me off balance. So wanted to obviously give thanks that I had this opportunity to do coaching with you, I really appreciate the time and compassion you’ve shown in our short time. Before I was working with you, I was in a higher state of anxiety than I had in 2 years since Postpartum. I was wanting to have a 2nd baby so I knew it was right to start something new. Definitely fate seeing your post looking for postpartum and women looking to get pregnant. After our sessions, I definitely have learned some ways to shift perspective and increase the tools to lower my anxieties. You have definitely helped me feel empowered as a mom and specifically for my little one. You encouraged me to do things that work for my anxiety and maintain those things. I loved working with you and even though we didn’t know each other, you made me feel very comfortable to open up. Actually that was the first time I told my full birth story and all the anxieties that led to where I am today so thank you for listening to me and allowing me the space. I think the best thing about coaching was how comfortable it was, that’s not always easy with a stranger and I think it’s a great quality of yours. Through our coaching I gained confidence as a mom, was reinforced to listen to my motherly intuition, was reminded how daily things can make a bigger change in my life. “I was not sure what a nurse coach was or what to expect from my visits with one, but I was open to explore and hoped my sessions would allow me to accomplish some goals.

In addition to the common wellness goals of exercise and eating well, I wanted to work most on my attitude and negative outlook. Specifically, I felt like I would get easily upset or angry at minor inconveniences from day to day life. I feel like Nychel did a great job of talking through specific moments with me, validating my feelings and suggesting ways in which I could work through these moments in the future. She suggested ways for me to reflect that aligned with my life, which were daily prayers and acknowledging the positives throughout the day. This was particularly helpful because it didn’t feel like an inconvenience or added stressor to my day. It very much worked for me and I feel that it truly helped me channel my emotions, halt some feelings of anger and have a more positive outlook.

In regards to my goals of exercise and healthy eating she developed a plan with me that would work with my routine and she would hold me accountable to these things by checking in on me throughout. If I stated that I was going to sign up for a workout class on said day, she’d reach out the day before to confirm. This accountability was tremendous for me in following through with these goals.

I was pleasantly surprised by this coaching relationship and the impact it made in the short time. I have previously worked with a therapist and feel this was much more impactful.
